We welcome our new Harbor Master

We are strengthening the team in Umeå with Markus Franzén as the new Harbor Master. - Markus' experience and competence will strengthen our team in many respects. He comes in at the right time considering the port's continued development and we are very happy that Markus has come to us, says Patrick Mattsson, vice president of Kvarken Ports.

In his role as harbor master at Kvarken Ports, Markus will be responsible for the port's ISPS area and will have the role of PFSO, which means a major focus on port security. Markus will be responsible for the port's waterways and the ship traffic that arrives at the port of Umeå, as well as being responsible for the energy area and participating in projects related to the port's development.

- I'm looking forward to working at Kvarken Ports, which operates an important port within Swedish infrastructure. With my background and experience, I will be able to contribute to the daily operations and the future development of the port of Umeå, says Markus Franzén.

Markus has a background as a sea captain and has been at sea for many years with nautical experience. He is also a trained structural engineer with experience in project management in industry on both land and sea. Markus most recently came from a role as project manager at a construction consulting company. Much of the goods that pass through the port of Umeå supply the entire region and also parts of Finland.

- The port's large catchment area, the security policy situation and the future investments carried out in the port also mean changes in the daily work. Safety is always a priority and our Harbor Master has an important role in safety work, says Patrick Mattsson.

Markus Franzén took up the position on 15 January.
